A short first blog from St Ives as I'm getting ready for day two in the leach pottery workshop. Yesterday was so strange, everyone was really lovely and welcoming, the cottage is nice & the workshop amazing! I just couldn't get past the total 'fish out of water' feeling. It dawned on me how little i really know. But then that's what this is all about, learning my craft.
Today i'm excited. Everyone other than myself and Yumi (the Japanese girl who is staying in the cottage with me - who is absolutely lovely) is away on a first aid course so there are no other jobs to do except a full day's throwing practice!! :) Disciplined, accurate, repetative practice - exactly what i need and lots of it!! :)
Today i will (try &) master that which defeated me yesterday, the wide shallow mug of Leach's standard ware.
